COVID-19 pandemic has brought the normal life of people to a screeching halt. The Canadian government announced special coronavirus measures restricting travel on March 18 and since then, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has held six program-specific Express Entry draws targeting both the provincial nominees and Canadian Experience Class candidates.

Provincial Nominee Programs in great demand

The latest all-program draw was held on March 4 that invited a record 3,900 eligible candidates with a minimum CRS score of 470. Since then, several of Canada’s Express Entry-aligned provincial nomination streams have issued invitations, including streams in Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

Since the start of 2020, Canada’s various PNP streams have already held more than 30 draws for provincial nominations to apply for Canada PR. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) is a uniques arrangement between the federal and provincial governments that allows Canadian provinces to nominate only those individuals who support their regional labour market and population objectives.

Most Canadian provinces and territories have PNPs aligned with Express Entry, except for Quebec and Nunavut.

Immigrate to Canada through the Canada Experience Class Program

Popularly known as CEC, it is an immigration category for Canada’s foreign workers who wish to become permanent residents. Temporary foreign workers already have Canadian work experience and are ideal candidates to apply for permanent residence through this category.

CEC may offer the fastest & most simple path for Canada PR to International Graduates. After successfully obtaining a post-graduate work permit in the country and at least one year of work in a skilled, professional or technical field, they may then become eligible to enter the Express Entry pool under the Canadian Experience Class.

Intakes through Canada Express Entry right on target

The latest Express Entry draw on April 16 adds up to the total of 30,400 ITAs issued, which is surprisingly more than that of last two years on the same date.

It is to be clearly understood that Express Entry is not a program itself but well-designed application management system managing three federal immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled Trades Program and tied with several Provincial Nominee Programs streams.

Your profile in an Express Entry system is scored and ranked against each other under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS score is mainly based on human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language proficiency in English or French.

Cutting it short, if you are able to obtain at least a 208 on the human capital characteristics of your CRS score along with a provincial nomination, your candidature for permanent residence in Canada is secure. You will soon receive an Invitation to Apply for Canada PR.

The disturbance caused by COVID-19 pandemic may soon be restored and Canada will resume its immigration intakes to meet its 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plans.
