Quebec Experience Program has undergone a major change and it is expected to take effect from November 01, 2019 itself. Whereas a few other changes will only take effect from next year.
Introduction of in-demand occupations list
Quebec has initiated the introduction of an in-demand occupations list. From now, eligible candidates with work experience in the province & who wish to apply under the Quebec Experience Program for a Quebec Selection Certificate to get permanent residence in Canada must have their occupations mentioned on the list.
The amount of work experience will vary depending on the National Occupational Classification (NOC) code, i.e. NOC 0, A or B must have 12 months of Quebec work experience whereas those with NOC C or D occupations on the list must have at least 18 months of work experience in the province.
International students willing to apply under Quebec Experience Program will have to ensure their area of training is one of the Quebec degrees listed under sections A and B of Quebec’s Area of Training list.
Changes to language requirements
Applicants are required to take a standardized test proving proficiency in French (CLB 7 or 8), or complete at least three years of full-time studies in French at the secondary or postsecondary level. These requirements will be equally imposed on spousal visa applicants.
The province is yet to decide if the said changes would also be applied to the pending applications. The new additions made to the Quebec Experience Program has made the process more transparent. Contact us to begin your immigration journey to Canada via Quebec!
