Express Entry is the most popular pathway for economic immigration to Canada. Candidates line-up their profiles under the Express Entry pool in order to make themselves eligible for permanent residence under the three federal programs – Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class including other Express Entry-linked Provincial Nominee Programs

IRCC conducts fortnightly Express Entry draws to invite skilled foreign workers above the threshold score under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to apply for permanent residence in Canada. A brief review of the same during the month of October is presented below:

October 2, 2019 – Express Entry draws 3900 candidates with CRS as low as 464 & above
October 16, 2019 – Program-specific Express Entry draws Candidates belonging to Federal Skilled Trades Class with CRS cut-off score of 357
October 30, 2019 – Express Entry draws  3900 candidates with CRS cut-off score of 475

Surprise Program-specific Express Entry draw

The biggest highlight of the month was the draws conducted for Federal Skilled Trades Class candidates. This was the second program-specific Express Entry draw conducted by IRCC in the year 2019. A similar draw conducted in the month of May was also for Federal Skilled Trades Class. Such draws are conducted separated to make an even-playing level for semi-skilled & high-skilled candidates who are placed in the same Express Entry pool.

Draw size remained at 3900

Much to the planned strategy, draw sizes in the October month draws increased, thereby issuing 3900 invitations to eligible candidates present in the federal Express Entry pool.

The increase in draw sizes comes at the time when the Canada Immigration Levels Plan for 2019-2021 aims to welcome around 256,000 applicants through the three federal immigration programs. Another 200,000 odd applicants will also be admitted through the Provincial Nominee Programs during the same period.

CRS cut-off score increased

There was a significant increase in CRS score threshold score towards the end of the month. It is attributed to the long gap between the all-program Express Entry draws caused due to program-specific draw. However, cut-off scores will soon come down in the subsequent draws.
