The recently released Express Entry Quarterly Report 2019 suggests an increased number of invitations to apply (ITAs) in the months of July to September. These ITAs were issued to nearly 21,600 eligible candidates for Canadian permanent residence.
Canada Express Entry system is regarded as the most popular immigration selection system and is also the largest driver of economic immigrants to the country. A job offer in Canada is not necessary to submit an Express Entry profile. However, the candidate must satisfy the requirements of one of three federal immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Class, or the Federal Skilled Trades Class.
The report noted that a decrease in CRS cut-off scores and an increase in draw sizes were responsible for more number of ITAs. Given the federal government’s higher admission targets for 2019 and 2020, a new record for issuing the highest number of ITAs under the three federal high-skilled immigration programs and Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program, which is also partially managed by Express Entry, remains a possibility this year.
Express Entry draw results from July to September 2019
|Date||Minimum CRS score||Number of ITAs issued|
|July 10, 2019||460||3600|
|July 24, 2019||459||3600|
|August 12, 2019||466||3600|
|August 20, 2019||457||3600|
|September 4, 2019||463||3600|
|September 18, 2019||462||3600|
Candidates with CRS scores below the cut-off threshold also stands a chance of getting a provincial nomination through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The report claimed that various Express Entry-linked provincial nomination streams were active in the third quarter from provinces such as Ontario, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Alberta, Manitoba, Prince Edward Islands. These programs have benefitted several such candidates with specific work experience.
